1. Overview & Commitment
The European Inland Fisheries and Aquaculture Advisory Commission (EIFAAC) and the EIFAAC 2026 Organizing Committee are committed to protecting the privacy, confidentiality, and security of delegates, speakers, chairs, and website visitors. This Privacy Policy explains how personal data is collected, processed, and safeguarded in connection with the EIFAAC 2026 Symposium Platform.
2. Data We Collect
We collect and process personal data necessary for organizing, coordinating, and delivering the symposium:
- Identity & Contact Details: Full name, honorific title, institutional affiliation, academic role, country, and email address provided during conference registration or abstract submission.
- Academic Profile Data: Optional ORCID identifier, research keywords, bio, Google Scholar URL, and professional LinkedIn profile provided by delegates in their profile settings.
- Symposium Participation: Session bookmarks, attendance check-in scans, downloaded attendance certificates, and 1-on-1 attendee networking messages.
- Technical Information: Device browser type, operating system, IP address, and security session cookies required to authenticate passwordless Magic Link logins.
3. How We Use Your Information
Your data is utilized solely for legitimate conference operations:
- Validating delegate credentials and providing access to restricted symposium materials and scientific proceedings.
- Facilitating academic networking: Verified delegates may opt to appear in the Attendee Directory so colleagues can view research profiles and send direct in-app messages.
- Generating official digital Certificates of Attendance and Continuing Education verification.
- Transmitting critical symposium announcements, schedule revisions, and session reminders.
4. Delegate Directory & Privacy Controls
- Visibility: Delegates have full control over their public profile and directory visibility via the My Hub profile editor.
- Direct Messaging: Attendee email addresses are never directly exposed to other delegates. In-app messages and email notifications are relayed securely through the platform's messaging proxy.
- Opt-Out: Delegates may mark their profiles as private or request removal from the networking directory at any time.
5. Data Retention & Third-Party Disclosure
- Personal data is retained only for the duration necessary to conclude symposium proceedings, archive official documentation, and issue attendance verification.
- We do not sell, rent, or monetize personal information. Data is never disclosed to commercial marketing third parties.
- Information may be shared strictly with institutional co-organizers (FAO, Institute of Food Safety, Animal Health and Environment "BIOR", and the Ministry of Agriculture of Latvia) solely for conference administration.
6. Your Rights (GDPR Compliance)
Under applicable European data protection legislation (including the EU General Data Protection Regulation - GDPR), delegates have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request rectification of inaccurate or outdated profile information.
- Request deletion ("Right to be Forgotten") of your networking account, subject to mandatory scientific record-keeping requirements.
